RUG DETAILS

  • 100% natural wool and 100% organic spice dyed, which means there will be natural (and beautiful) variations in pattern and color. This could be considered an asset as it adds value to the final product. There is never the exact same rug as yours.
  • Wool shrinks! While we do our best, final sizes can vary by 2-10 cm/1-4" depending also on the size of the rug.
  • Wool sheds, but we do our best to reduce that. All our rugs from M'rirt go through special washing methods to reduce shedding and shrinking once it arrives at your door.
  • Tassels add about 10cm to your rug.
  • Please note continuous sun exposure will cause fading as seen on vintage rugs.
  • Estimated ship date 6-12 weeks after order is processed
  • Custom rug orders are final sale

STORY

This Romaisa's rug is made in Beni M'rirt. M'rirt rugs are also called "noble rugs" as they are particularly densely knotted with double knots and made from exceptional wool quality.

M'rirt rugs continue to adorn interior designers and fine connoisseurs by their extremely warm, soft and long piles.

They are the most expensive due to the high quality and the quantity of the wool we use.

If you look for a natural rug that feels heavenly to walk on, then M'rirt rugs are meant for you.

Made by Artisans

Mrirt rug is a family tradition, it's made by Amazigh women at home and traditionally cleaned by her husband outdoors up to 5 times before hanging it under the sun to dry which can take 4 weeks during winter.

Once your custom order has been made, we will send the design to a group of Artisans near by M'rirt. Once we get to know who will be working on your carpet, we will give you an update!

LEARN MORE
  • Handmade by Amazigh Women

All our rugs are completely handmade with indigenous know how, passed down from generation to generation. Each rug holds a story and a blessing of a woman that knows how to get things done.

  • Premium wool

Wool is antibacterial and the wool we use comes from Moroccan herders from either the Middle Atlas or Siroua mountains. Ensuring the best quality wool that can be found in Morocco and the 3rd best quality in the world.

  • Natural dyed and washed

We use organic spice dyes to dye our rugs. Think of madder, saffron flowers, pomegranate skin, walnut hulls, alfalfa, indigo and so on. 0% chemicals are used in making and washing our rugs.

FAQ

How can I take care of my rug?

We recommend unpacking the rug once it’s delivered. This will help minimize any creases or marks from the rug being rolled up. The rug will need to settle for a few days before any crease is removed from the shipping process.

Washing and spot cleaning

To extend the life of your rug, have it professionally washed once a year. In Morocco, the families shake the rugs outside weekly to clean them. This is the traditional and easy way you can replicate in your own home.

If you ever need to spot clean your rug, do so as soon as possible with lukewarm water and a little natural soap. If the stains are stubborn, we recommend using professional cleaning service.

Vacuum cleaning

Romaisas rugs are made from 100% natural wool fibers, this means, they will shed. Regular vacuuming of your rug at home in the first couple of weeks will help reduce shedding and eliminate it completely over time. Vacuum your rug in a side-topside motion to protect its fibers.

Feel free to flip the rug and vacuum the reverse side to get anything that is deep in the piles as well.

Rotating your rug

In our homes, sunlight can effect the coloring on fabrics and furniture, including rugs. We recommend you to rotate your rug every 3 months to help maintain an even shade.

Is it possible to meet the women who made my rug?

If you want to visit the beautiful country of Morocco. Please do let us know at hello@romaisas.com. We work together with a Moroccan tour operator that can arrange the best trip for you while also having the chance to meet the Artisans.

Will my rug be exactly as shown in the pictures?

Moroccan rugs are in general more beautiful than shown on a monitor/display.

However two rugs can never be the exact same. Natural wool has an intriguing way to dance in with the sun light and mesmerize you every time. It's beauty that can't be captured.

Also keep in mind that each phone/computer has different screen settings so the colors are likely to look not the exact same.

Each rug is made entirely by hand so there will always be variations in pattern and color, but we strive to accurately capture the detail and color so you know what you are getting.

How much does shipping costs?

Shipping heavy and big packages in general is costly. Some of our rugs weigh over 28 kg. Within the European Union we chose to include shipping costs and insurance in our prices. So within the EU shipping is on us. For shipping outside the EU, shipping costs are calculated at check out.

Buyers are responsible for customs and duties that may apply for those customers who reside outside the European Union or the United States.
